I LOVE odd object training like this.  It’s tough, primal and a hell of a lot of fun too.  I wanna know what are some of your favorite odd object training toys?  Leave a comment below for me and share your favorites.

Hey Vic,

Great clip!

I really love odd object training …

We’ve got a 50kg sandbag we call Mr Slammy … He’s always fun to carry and toss around :)

And our latest toy is a slosh pipe … those things are way harder to use than they look :)

Cheers!

If you’re not having fun, it’s not worth training. There are too many ways to move the body – why not enjoy the process?

Youre killin it Vic, awesome job! This is the best site ive found hands down. Since finding, ive made a couple medicine balls, picked up a tire, kettlebells and use my heavy bag regularly now. The treadmill and curls got nothing on these workouts!!

ON another side note, Ive had success keeping my sandbag free from leaks by wrapping the individual bags in old socks or old clothes i had in the garage. (clean of course) It seems to absorb alot of the punishment and has kept it from leaking so far. Hope it helps.

Train on!

Mike

Mike, many thanks for the sandbag tips. Truth be told, the one I used in the vid leaks like crazy! And many thanks for the kudos. I sincerely appreciate your readership.

Hey Vic! Great workout! It’s great to see a workout that uses things other than DB and stability balls once in a while. :)

We all need to get out of the rut once in a while. Don’t get me wrong, I do not train with sandbags and waterballs every damned day. I use the traditional barbell movements most often and plenty of bodyweight stuff, too. But some times, you just have to shake shit up!

I like it.. I like it!

That’s no mickey mouse training. The burpees then pull up..push up/pull up together…awesome!

A friend and I play squash usally 3-4 times a week, and were now incorporating after each point 10 pushups / 10 burpees alternating. Were keeping it HARDCORE! ;)

Big T, way to keep it hardcore! Burpees any way you slice ‘em are going to kick ass. :)

Great workouts.

We play rugby, and my favorite “odd” workout is another rugby player. At the end of practice, nothing better than grabbing a 250 lb guy and running a few “sprints.”

Great video, Vic! If badass like you struggles to complete that circuit, I shiver (with masochistic pleasure) to think what I will do under it….
Hey, can you suggest some other circuits (from some old posts maybe) that would kickass? Am looking for some new ones. I do the burpee-pushup-pullup circuit, and my neighbors can hear me breathe!

Nothing like waking the neighbors. ;) Be sure to friend me on facebook as I have a few circuit videos on my page and you can also find the Push & Row video here at GymJunkies.

Hardcore workout! I like the video production and music, too. Cool effect of just highlighting one color and having the rest B&W.

On Facebook, why don’t you create a fan page for GymJunkies.com?

One of my favorites is high pressure hoses that we use at work, They weight about 100 pounds for a 30 foot section. we have to drag those things around, wrap them up, hang them up.. etc.. I wish I could have those around to work out with.

So my vote is coiling up or moving around heavy cable, or hoses. That gets my core and arms just burning.

High pressure hoses sound hard core! And coiling up cable or hoses sounds like manual labor – real deal stuff! That’s always going to get the job done when it comes to real world strength.

Hey Vic. . where does one go to get sand bags or water balls?

You can pick up a waterball at Dick’s or any sporting good store. Just make sure you get the pop resistant ones. All it is is a exercise ball that I deflated and filled with water.

Sandbags can be made for about $20-$30 or so. Ross has a great tutorial on his site for making them
