Many, many thanks, Adam. I'm glad you catch my vibe that I'm not about pushing dogma down anyone's throat and that diet and exercise does not have to be rocket science. Eat real food. Push yourself in the gym. Train safely. Need I say more?

Yes, the mathematically challenged Zen guy who said "fall down 7, get up 8" was definitely talking about all of life. It's one of my favorite things to say to myself when I have a moment of doubt.

Hang in there, man. Your results are even more impressive knowing the challenges you've been going through away from the gym. All the cliches about silver linings and making you stronger come to mind, but the bottom line is that sometimes life sucks and you have to gut it out. And it sounds like you've been doing just that. Keep it up and stay strong.

Vic,

extremely useful/great/awesome/wonderful/you name it site brother. I like the -NO BS- approach to your style. Sometimes I think seeking TOO much support can be weary. I myself have experienced getting all tangled up in other peoples blogs about their diet, lifting regime, whats good/not good to eat, etc. I see people getting crazy results, shift to -their- ways of success, and find myself miserable trying to work that way. You are honestly about one of the only guys I know that is 'simple and sweet to the point' kind of person and able to keep me, as well others motivated without trying to shift lifestyles.

Thank you for reminding us to train hard(er), enjoy some foods and carbs, and to always think positively and push onward! Keep with your simple no bs style of fitness brother. 10/10.

I would never, ever have got this far without the health and fitness, weight loss and personal journey blogs I read. They are a daily inspiration to me.

And even though I fall off the wagon on a regular basis..lol.. I have never been so dedicated to getting back on it!! And I mean 'never'! I usually just give up! But as you said before Vic "fall down 7 times, get up 8 times" - I flippin LOVE that!! Not just for diet or exercise, but for LIFE!

Thanks everyone, for being 'virtually' there!

Online support has been a great source of inspiration for me. Like I've mentioned before your's is the first site on fitness that I ever read in my life and was blown away! (And for the life of me I can't remember how I came here!) You introduced me to many others and I regularly keep updating myself. Also I feel it has been easier for me to follow a sensible eating plan. I don't stress and obsess over everything I eat but also find that it has become easier to give up temptations! Suddenly I feel as if fitness can be a way of life and not a temporary thing. Thanks Vic!
P.S. Like you better without the cap on your head!

You are so right about the importance of support groups! Most of my friends are either not bothered enough to diet/exercise and some really don't need to as they are naturally blessed with these perfect bodies. My best friend has about the same weight loss goals as me but every time we went on a healthy eating plan together she always gave up and said lets go out for dinner! Even my gym buddy is super skinny and does not want to gym regularly :-( Most of support group is online, its useful talking to people who are really serious about weight loss/being healthy and really want to get in shape. Plus I can get a TON of fitness tips from awesome websites like yours for free!

Nice post, Vic. I have had similar experience as Eric - some of my friends think I eat "kind of weird, protein and veggies" like it's a freakin' oddity. And maybe they are right, it is for 90% of the general population (that doesn't care what they ingest). As I move through different stages of progress (and sometimes not) I learn that support is important, but more important is to make sure your support is aligned with your goals. I totally understand Dominique's fears, I'm sure her parents, etc. support all she does; it's hard when they are on a different path. Emotionally, physically, etc. That's a tough, but important, lesson that I have finally learned - you have to move in a good direction for yourself. There is nothing selfish about that - believe me, your example may effect more lives than you'll ever know.

Thanks again, and everyone - stay strong, all the way around.
