Have you posted the amount of weight the challengers are working with? I’m interested to see how much a fellow lady is lifting.
Lyndsey was deadlifting 95 lbs. in this video.
Love the videos! Though I’m not using one of your programs right now the videos are very inspirational and they keep me coming back to your site.
Thanks, Kevin. Stay tuned for more video updates!
The videos are great! I’d be interested to know how much Lyndsey is lifting as well.
Thanks, Stacy. Lyndsey is deadlifting 95 lbs. in this video.
Vids are fab! Keep em coming!
Kudos to John for broken toe workouts! I didnt workout for 2 days cos my achilles were killing me, so God knows what a broken toe feels like!
“weights are your friend”! I like that!
Thanks Vic
Tusc
Thanks, Tusc. No doubt, John is motivated and on task with this challenge. He is losing crazy weight! And getting stronger, too.
Oh dear, Lyndsey is learning to deadlift AND she has a monroe piercing? *swoon*
Vic,
Man, these updates are just awesome. The first week after doing deadlifts for the first time I had some soreness in my lower back…I knew it felt muscular and not nerve or skeletal, but it was still a new feeling, and in the next update you addressed DOMS in the lower back! Then in the latest video (#4) to hear Lyndsey talk about the reduced energy level and being tired and not recovering quickly…I went through the exact same thing!
I guess my point is it’s really cool to see that I’m experiencing the same stuff J, L and A are going through as opposed to just hoping to god I’m doing it right.
I also think it’s hysterical when you catch them using shitty form and call them out on it right away! Calling a spade a spade!! Love that stuff! Live the dream, man!
Glad to hear the video updates are beneficial. And yes, I am a stickler for technique! Train Hard!
Shure they are helpful!!! I could need you alive in my livingroom to push me sometimes….., but a look at these videoes and see other people also get tired helps a lot.
Thanks!!
PS: I`m beginning to “like” the pain!
HH
Glad to hear you are enjoying the pain. It always feels “good” to know your body has been worked. Just be sensitive to your pain. . . joint pain is bad; muscle soreness – probably no big deal. Nerve pain is bad; your heart feeling like it’s going to explode from your chest if you do one more burpee is good.
Tuscanystone, I feel you man – I sprained my achilles too – too much b-ball after too much non-b-ball. I guess you should leave it reast and push hard where you can (this concept rower machine is awesome if you got access to it)
But also stationary lunges and squats will be easy on the lower legs (as opposed to running, jumping rope, climbing stairs, etc)
Good luck bro!
Yavor
Hey Yavor,
Thanks for your input.
You’re right, I think its the hopscotch or the skipping rope warm up that did it. Or perhaps even my high heels – I’m a girl! lol
Will stick with the squats and lunges hun, thanks
Tusc
Haha ok – check this aricle out – it will def help you with the achilles pain (if u still have it):

Basically press hard/massage your mid calf muscle to release the tension that causes pain in the tendon bellow it. You can use a tennis ball for that – if you feel sharp pain in your calf, it means its over-tight and causing the tendon pain..
Many thanks for sharing the link. And taking care of Tusc.
Seeing readers help each other in the comments has been one of the best things about this challenge.
Tuscanystone – You may want to check out a foam roller. I bought one at the start of the year for some IT band issues I was having and they work wonders. Work great for calves as well. Though a tennis ball would probably do the same thing, it’d just hurt a bit more. If you can take the pain, go for it.
thanks guys. I felt I was on the mend then met some friends to play rounders (dunno if you play that in US? It’s like baseball but with a smaller bat and ball) in a field yesterday, ran off cold and felt like my tendon ‘pinged’ again! Arghhhh!
Will try all the calf massages over the next few days and also some Ibuleve gel to ease the swelling! It’s so annoying when you pick up an injury eh?
thanks again and good luck with your workouts
Tusc
Stay healthy, Tusc. Injuries can be annoying. You have to take care of your health before you can take care of your fitness.
Wait a second…….. Did he say my back looked like a turtle in the video….. hahahaha
Yes, but now it’s becoming a super sleek turtle. Way to go on the great weight loss – one week to go!
Oh, he definitely did! As I did my deadlifts at the gym yesterday, I kept thinking, “no turtle back, no turtle back” over and over to keep my form in check. Your pain, my gain, I guess
Keep rocking this challenge, John. You’re doing great!
Thanks Vic. Definitely helpful – they are a source of motivation – as I do get tired when doing the workouts and sometimes do not make all the reps – and seeing them have the same problem sometimes is reassuring – like them I am getting stronger.
Keep up the great work and glad to hear the videos are helpful. And even more glad to hear you are getting stronger!
Hey Vic,
Definitely helped as Karri mentioned – when doing DLs don’t be a turtle! Anything that makes you laugh or smile when working out is a good thing!
I think you can see my coaching style is firm but encouraging. You have to get the client to execute at the best level that they can, and being a total dick will rarely produce the best level from a client. Having a little fun is great as long as the results keep coming!
I can makeout from the videos (though I have never met you personally) that you are a great coach!! No wonder these guys are getting awesome results.
Thanks, Sangita! I do my best.
